Hyem itself is made of reclaimed timbers and upcycled oak flooring, both of which have their own story, with a log-burning stove for those cosy nights in or there is an amphitheatre-style fire pit for outdoor evening comfort. We are off grid with electricity being provided via our wind turbine and solar panels. If you choose to stay connected then there is unlimited wifi.

Outside at Hyem on the lower decks you’ll find comfy hanging-seats or bistro seating at the front, and a heated shower at the rear. The roof deck boasts wooden rocking chairs and for the ultimate in relaxation: a wood-fired Hikki bathtub, which is perfect for relaxing under the stars or watching a sunset - and it’s big enough for two!

Inside, the vast picture window allows views from your bed of sunsets and the Northumbrian countryside as far as the Cheviot Hills in the distance.

We have the most amazing dark skies here at Northumberland Nook and there are binoculars and a telescope to spot planets, stars or even the International Space Station as it passes across the skies. On clear nights the Northern Lights can very occasionally be seen too.
